Nima is an indie project whose band members have experience from Dusin, Artifact Collective, mørkeblødt among other projects and draw inspiration from both the global indie scene and Danish pop artistry. Nima released their debut album “Pacemaker” in 2021, which received high praise in the Danish media, but the band lost momentum due to the last COVID-19 lockdown that followed shortly after the release.
Now Nima is finishing two EP releases with the working titles: ind til benet / op til kanten, aiming to revitalize Nima with a more playful and pop-oriented Danish expression than the debut album’s English indie rock anthems.
We observe a growing interest in lyric-focused songs about personal stories, everyday frustrations, and social commentary in the broader Danish music scene. These are central themes in Nima’s new songs that touch on topics such as mental health struggles, breaking away from one’s childhood home, self-medication, and frustration with the entrepreneurial jetsetter ideal.
We aim to create a musical community that allows for both reflection, dancing, and catharsis, where frustration and joy can be both shouted or whispered over a blend of electronic beats and acoustic recordings. The (big) ambition is that the music will appeal to both listeners of young contemporary pop, as heard on P3, (Tobias Rahim, Ganger, The Minds of 99) as well as to the P6 BEAT segments consisting of young music enthusiasts who enjoy indie and alternative (First Flush, Joyce, School of X) as well as older listeners with roots in rock and hand-played music.
