JIYU

Genrebrydende instrumentale, Jiyu, er bliver beskrevet som ”modern late night nu cosmic space jazz” Bandet har med deres seneste album ”Totem of Quiet Mystic” høstet anerkendelse fra international jazz magasiner som Jazzwise (UK), en lang række ikoniske radio dj’s og tast-makers, og her hjemme en plads som ugens album på P8 Jazz. Jiyu’s dybe arrangementer er spækket med analog synths, electric piano, guitar og blæsertemaer, samt synkoperede bas-tromme-perkussion grooves, der fremføres live af en besætning bestående af Thomas Dietl (Trommer) Emil Jonathan (Guitar & Synth) Ken Linh Doky (El. Piano og Synths) Rasmus Kjærsgaard (Flute og Sax) Igor Rado (Perkussion) Nicolai Land (Bas) Stifter af Jiyu, Emil Jonathan, har tidligere stået bag produktioner som tango-dub projektet, von Daler & Low Pressure, og hans tidlige dubsoul projekt, EMO. Derudover har han samarbejdet med navne som den Engelske hiphop pioner, Dj Vadim, Dancehall Queen, Natasja, tidlige downbeat, nu-jazz og broken-beat navne som, Boozoo Bajou, Nu Spirrit Helsinki og Les Gammas, og senest arbejde med den legendariske Canadiske house producer Fred Everything på hans projekt, All is Well (Compost Records, 2024) Jiyu’s seneste album ”Totem of Quiet Mystic” er ude på Dubsoul Records, og kan findes på alle streaming tjenester, eller på jiyu.nu JIYU

Their rich arrangements, featuring analog synths, electric piano, brass themes, and quirky bass-drum-percussion grooves, demand the talents of Jiyu’s live crew, now streamlined to six musicians on stage: Thomas Dietl (Drums), Emil Jonathan (Guitar & Synth), Ken Linh Doky (Electric Piano and Synths), Rasmus Kjærsgaard (Flute and Sax), Igor Rado (Percussion), and Nicolai Land (Bass).
