Funky sjæl og jazzede harmonier på vej mod nyt album.
Niels HP rammer Drop Inn midt i Copenhagen Jazz Festival – med lommen fuld af nye sange og et band, der er klar til at løfte taget. I juni går kvartetten i studiet for at indspille HP’s tredje soloalbum, og denne aften får publikum et sjældent kig ind bag kulisserne: råt, levende og i konstant bevægelse.
Musikken bygger videre på fundamentet fra de to forrige plader – men melodierne er trukket længere frem, og harmonierne har fået et klart jazzet skær. Groovet er dog stadig det samme: levende, legende og dybt forankret i soulen.

Niels HP – vokal & congas
Sanger og sangskriver med to anmelderroste solo albums bag sig (Promises of Rain og Bumpy Road) – og et tredje på vej med tekster om det vi står ved, det vi går imod – og det vi tager på os. Kendt for sin soul-fulde legende vokal, sit smittende groove og sin evne til at skrive sange, der både rører og rykker. Musik med personlighed – og noget på hjerte.
Jacob Christoffersen – piano & kor
Ben Webster-prisvinder og en af landets mest efterspurgte jazzpianister. Har spillet i et utal af sammenhænge inden for dansk og udenlandsk jazz. Derudover kendt som sangernes yndlings pianist.
Elias HP – bas
Ungt talent med et solidt musikalsk CV – bl.a. med David Millman Group, Tiger Oak, Sophia HP og Veronica Rud.
Mads Andersen – trommer
Trommeslager i særklasse. Elsket for sit dybe groove, sin helt egen lyd og sin evne til at spille på musikkens præmisser.
Funky Soul and Jazzy Harmonies on the Way to a New Album
Niels HP hits Drop Inn in the heart of the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, bringing with him a
collection of fresh new songs and a band ready to raise the roof. In June, the quartet will enter the studio to record HP’s third solo album, and this evening offers a rare glimpse behind the scenes: raw, lively, and always evolving.
The music builds upon the foundation laid by his previous albums, but the melodies are more prominent, and the harmonies take on a distinct jazz flavor. Yet, the groove remains
unchanged: vibrant, playful, and deeply rooted in soul.
The Band:
Niels HP – Vocals & Congas
A singer and songwriter with two critically acclaimed solo albums (Promises of Rain and Bumpy Road) and a third on the way, exploring themes of what we stand by, what we move towards, and what we take ownership of. Known for his soulful, playful vocals, infectious groove, and his ability to write songs that both touch and move. Music with personality – and something to say.
Jacob Christoffersen – Piano & Vocals
A Ben Webster Prize winner and one of the most sought-after jazz pianists in the country. He has performed in numerous jazz ensembles both in Denmark and internationally and is also
known as the favorite pianist of many jazz singers.
Elias HP – Bass
A young talent with a solid musical CV, including work with the David Millman Group, Tiger Oak, Sophia HP, and Veronica Rud.
Mads Andersen – Drums
A top-tier drummer, admired for his deep groove, unique sound, and his ability to always play in the service of the music.
