DESCRIPTION:Drop Inn har i år tildelt temaer til dagene der repræsenterer det bedste i Jazz.\nEn overflødighedshornsektion der hylder og fremhæver instrumenter\, undergenrer og tidens trends i Jazz-Danmark.\nDen anden lørdag i vores festival program er under temaet: Back to New Orleans – NOLA Jazz. \nDr. John Tribute feat. Tricia Boutté & James Martin (US/DK) \nByens bedst blues- og jazzmusikere mødes på Drop Inn’s intime scene og giver et brag af en hyldestkoncert til ingen ringere end legenden Mac Rebennack aka Dr. John. Siden 1960’erne og indtil hans død i 2019 kombinerede han blues\, funk\, jazz og soul i den lyd\, der er så umiskendelig for ‘The Big Easy’; en stor gumbo af spilleglæde\, saft\, kraft og originalitet. Vel og mærke hele tiden med rødderne dybt plantet i New Orleans fantastiske musikhistorie og med respekt for dem som kom før ham.\nAftenen byder på bandets favoritnumre fra doktorens repertoire i alt fra “Iko Iko” over “Such A Night” fra “The Last Waltz” til hans nok største hit\, top 10 singlen “Right Place At The Wrong Time”. \nAftenens band består af medlemmer fra Jazz Five\, Chris Copen Band og hele to special guests fra New Orleans; Saxofonist James Martin og sangerinde\, Tricia Boutté.\nBegge musikere har optrådt flere gange med selveste Dr. John\, så det bliver ikke meget mere autentisk. \n  \nThis year\, Drop Inn has assigned themes to the days that represent the best in Jazz.\nA super selection that celebrates and highlights instruments\, sub-genres and current trends in Jazz-Denmark.\nThe second Saturday in our festival program is under the theme: Back to New Orleans – NOLA Jazz. \nDr. John Tribute feat. Tricia Boutté & James Martin (US/DK) \nThe city’s best blues and jazz musicians meet on Drop Inn’s intimate stage and give a bang of a tribute concert to none other than the legend Mac Rebennack aka Dr. John. Since the 1960s and until his death in 2019\, he combined blues\, funk\, jazz and soul in the sound that is so unmistakable for ‘The Big Easy’; a big gumbo of joy of playing\, juice\, power and originality. Of course\, all the while with roots deeply planted in New Orleans’ fantastic music history and with respect for those who came before him.\nThe evening features the band’s favorite songs from the doctor’s repertoire\, from “Iko Iko” to “Such A Night” from “The Last Waltz” to his probably biggest hit\, the top 10 single “Right Place At The Wrong Time”. \nThe evening’s band consists of members of the Jazz Five\, the Chris Copen Band and two special guests from New Orleans; Saxophonist James Martin and singer\, Tricia Boutté.\nBoth musicians have performed several times with Dr. John himself\, so it doesn’t get much more authentic.

Denne lørdag i vores festival program er under temaet: Back To New Orleans – NOLA Jazz i Danmark. \nESBEN JUST ALLSTARS \nEfter i en årrække at have turneret landet tyndt med spjustfrost\, skipperjustfrost\, Esben Just trio og Esben Just solo\, er tiden nu kommet for Esben til at dykke helt ned i den dybe traditionelle jazz\, sammen med et sandt Allstar hold af musikere. Niclas Bardeleben på tr/ voc\, Ole Skipper Kontrabas\, Stefan Ringgive trombone\, repræsentere både fornyelse og vedholdenhed i forhold til at holde musikken fra New Orleans både levende og relevant. Esben har nærmest New Orleans som sin anden hjemby og har gjort piano stilen der kommer fra netop “the Big Easy” til et kendetegn og varemærke for sine optræder rundt på landets scener. Med dette hold vil der blive spillet både frækt og funky ́et og med respekt for traditionen. Der vil blive secondlinet og palmcourt struttet\, mens “the big bass drum” spiller et beat der kan få de blinde til at gå og de døve til danse\, mens der bliver råbt “shallow water Mama”. Niclas Bardeleben on tr/voc\, Ole Skipper Double bass\, Stefan Ringgive trombone\, represent both innovation and persistence in keeping the music from New Orleans both alive and relevant. Esben has New Orleans almost as his second hometown and has made the piano style that comes from “the Big Easy” a hallmark and trademark for his performances around the country’s stages. With this team\, the playing will be both cheeky and funky and with respect for tradition. Denne lørdag i vores festival program er under temaet: Back To New Orleans – NOLA Jazz i Danmark. \nMO HIPPA SECTION\nMo Hippa Section blev grundlagt med ambitionen om at være den tighteste funk-oplevelse på den københavnske livescene og bringer den autentiske New Orleans-lyd\, inspireret af lokale kunstnere som Jon Cleary og The Absolute Monster Gentleman\, Galactic\, The Meters og Professor Longhair. Mo Hippa Section bringer det allerbedste\, som New Orleans har at byde på – med unikke arrangementer\, tighte grooves og en uovertruffen energi. – Det er simpelthen mere Mo Hippa end det\, du har! \nBandet udgav for nylig en livesession optaget på Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium\, manipuleret af den Florida-baserede guitarist Jason Shooster\, der også slutter sig til bandet i en live-kontekst. The first Sunday in our festival program is under the theme: Back To New Orleans – NOLA Jazz in Denmark. \nMO HIPPA SECTION\nFounded with the ambition of being the tightest funk experience on the Copenhagen live scene\, Mo Hippa Section is bringing the authentic New Orleans sound\, inspired by local acts such as Jon Cleary and The Absolute Monster Gentleman\, Galactic\, The Meters and Professor Longhair\, Mo Hippa Section brings the very best that New Orleans has to offer – with unique arrangements\, tight grooves and an unparalleled energy. – It’s Simply Mo Hippa’ than what you’ve got! \nThe band recently released a live session recorded at the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music\, engineered by Florida based guitarist Jason Shooster\, who is also joining the band in a live context. Come on out and get your funk on! \nA NIGHT AT THE BAYOU – Bio\nIt’s always been full speed ahead for A Night On The Bayou.\nThe love for the authentic New Orleans feeling drives them! The party\, the audience’s excitement\, serving a vibe that everyone can relate to\, that’s their biggest inspiration! And otherwise people who encapsulate that feeling such as: Jon Cleary\, The Meters\, The Wild Magnolias\, but also the Danish Mo Hippa section. \nUsing different genres such as: latin\, gospel\, funk and second line\, as well as the inclusion of rappers and guest stars in the form of other brass instruments so far\, they ensure that each concert is something new\, while still sticking to the common thread.\nHaving created an experience that shouldn’t be missed is a huge success\, and A Night On The Bayou’s mission is now to ride the wave of that success. Their plan is to follow up this bunch of concerts by starting the recordings of their debut album\, which is set to be released in 2026.
